Whenever you see this symbol, that means there's a SUMMON materia near by. Alot of times they are hidden or they just take an extra effort to find... Summon Materia is hard to get, gives your guys major penalties and sucks up MP like a SUV sucks up gas. However, they are insanely powerful. Remember that the higher a character's Magic rating, the more damage a summon will do, so Aeris using a summon will do more damage than Barret using it. Also, the characters magic ratings and the enemies defense goes up as the game progresses, so damage is a rough estimate. So far, we've come across the following summons... CHOCO/MOG This cute little summon you get early on at the Chocobo ranch. Talk to one of the Chocobos, and respond with a "wark". The chocobos will proceed to do a dance, and they will give you this materia. When used, a little Mog riding on the back of a chocobo dashes at the enemies, smacking them with a Deathblow-BOOM! The little Mog falls off, but the chocobo picks him up and dashes away. The enemies suffer from Wind damage, and may become paralyzed. When you first get this summon, it does about 300-360 damage. SPECIAL! Chocomog actually has TWO abilities! Once out of every 16 times you use Choco/Mog regularly, a huge, FAT CHOCOBO will come and just squash the enemies for a solid 400 damage! STATS: MP cost: 16 Damage/Element/Effect: Moderate Wind damage, Paralysis. Fat Chocobo: 400+ wind damage. Equip effect: +1 MAGIC, -2% HP, +2% MP LEVELS (AP needed/Total AP): 1 (0/0) 2 (2,000/2,000) 3 (12,000/14,000) 4 (11,000/25,000) 5/master (10,000/35,000) SHIVA This materia you get in an amulet given to Cloud by Pricilla after you save her life. It's decent and is pretty good for a lot of the game. It costs alot more than the ICE spells and Chocomog, so unless you need to dish out some SERIOUS ice-damage, go with something else. When you use this materia, a spell called DIAMOND DUST is cast. The room darkens, and a single light breaks it, getting larger. A huge, pale woman dressed only in ribbons descends downward towards your foes. She stares them in the eyes, and unleashes a blast of cold so intense, it freezes the ground around them. STATS: MP COST: 32 Damage/Element/Effect: Moderate ICE damage. No other effect. Equip Effect: +01 Magic, -2% Hp, +2% Mp. Levels: (AP needed/Total) Level 1(0/0) 2(4,000/4,000) 3(11,000/15,000) 4(15,000/20,000) 5/master(15,000/35,000). IFRIT Jenova BIRTH drops this materia after you defeat her in the Shinra Cargo Ship. It dishes out some serious fire damage, but it costs a lot of MP. Again, you have to balance out whether the MP drain is worth the amount of damage. If you don't need to do 500 damage, it may not be. This materia casts "Hellfire". The deamon bursts out of the ground, and lets out a roar, dispersing flame. It stares at the enemy, then charges at them engulfed in a fireball. Making a race-car sound, it burns the whole area, leaving a wave of heat in its wake. STATS: MP COST: 32 Damage/Element/Effect: Moderate-to-high of FIRE damage (Note: And that's when Barret casts it!). Equip Effect: +01 Magic, -2% Hp, +2% Mp. Levels: (AP needed/Total) Level 1(0/0), 2(4,000/4,000), 3(11,000/15,000), 4(15,000/20,000) 5/Master(15,000/35,000). RAMUH You find this summon in the chocobo jockey lounge. You only have ONE CHANCE to grab this, so make sure you don't miss it! The spell used is "Judgement Bolt. Lightning rips into the ground, and a mountain appears, atop of which is Ramuh, who assaults your foes with a powerful electric attack. STATS: MP COST: 40 Damage/Element/Effect: High LIGHTNING damage. Equip effect: Magic +1%, HP -2%, MP + 2% Levels: (Ap needed/Total) Level 1(0/0) 2(10,000/10,000), 3(15,000/25,000), 4(25,000/50,000), 5(20,000/70,000) TITAN Titan can be found inside the destroyed Gongaga reactor. You can get it at any time, so, don't kill yourself if you forget =) When summoning Titan, "Anger of the land" will be used. Titan will pop out of the ground, then lift up the chunk of ground that the enemy is standing on, and flip it over --with them still on it!--, making the ground crush them.
