BARRET: "I finally made it... So this is... Cosmo Canyon!" GATE KEEPER: (To Cloud) "Welcome to Cosmo Canyon. Are you familiar with this land?" CLOUD: "Yes" -OR- "No" GATE KEEPER: "You lied. That's something that is not treated lightly here in Cosmo Canyon." -OR- ""Let me explain. People from all over the world gather here to seek the Study of Planet Life." BARRET: "Woooooo! I always wanted to come here!" GATE KEEPER: "Ummgah! We're at full capacity at the moment, so I'm afraid I cannot let you enter." RED XIII, er, NANAKI, er... oh, wtf: (Comes back) "They helped me while I was on the road. Please let them in." GATE KEEPER: "...Oh, is that so? You helped our Nanaki? Well then, please, come in!" CLOUD: (shrugging) "Who is Nanaki?" GATE KEEPER: "Nanaki is Nanaki. That is his name." At about this point, you'll have the option of adding a new third character to your party. Make sure it's Barret. Then, go talk to Re-, er, Nanaki. NANAKI: "Here is where I was... I mean, ...this is my hometown. My tribe were protectors of those who appreciate this beautiful canyon and the Planet." (pauses) "My brave mother fought and died here, but my cowardly father left her...... I am the last of my race." CLOUD: "Cowardly father?" NANAKI: "Yes. My father was a wastrel." (Looks away for a second) "And so the mission I inherited from my ancestors, is to protect this place. My journey ends here." Voice: "Hey! Nanaki--! You're home!" NANAKI: "Coming, Grandpa!" (Wait, didn't he just say he was the LAST of his...? Aw fuckit.) Your party members separate from Cloud.
